One Solitary Life
He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another village where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty years old. Then for three short years, He was an itinerant preacher.
He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never put His foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place where He was born. He never did any of those things that usually accompany greatness.
When He was only thirty-three, the tide of public opinion turned against Him. His friends ran away. He was turned over to His enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. While He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth - His coat. When He was dead, He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave.
Twenty long centuries have come and gone and today He is the central figure of the human race. All the armies that have ever marched, all the navies that have ever been built, all the parliaments that have ever sat and all the kings that have ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as that one solitary life. This site has been created with the hope and prayer that you will love Jesus Christ, the lover of our souls. After His death, He rose from the dead and He is alive today.
He is the fountain of peace, the source of true love. He is that "one solitary life".
Jesus declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." And "If any man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling place with him."
There is no other way to God except through the person of the Lord Jesus. Praying to saints, doing good deeds, following the teaching of Buddhism or the tenets of Islam - all may give one a sense of worth and well-being but they fail to bring us any closer to God.
As we love Jesus Christ, we are loved by God. As we seek to know Jesus, we find God. As we find God, we find everything we need in this life. It is that simple.
Are you confused? Are you searching for answers? Are you angry with me... or with yourself... or with God?
Jesus opens his arms and He invites us to come to Him. If you do, you will find Him to be the best friend, the wisest counsellor, and the most passionate lover of your life..... He waits for you now.
Do you know Him? Do you know that "one solitary life"?
The above words are
attributed to James A. Francis who included them in a talk way back in 1926.
They have been rewritten and slightly revised through the years. But Jesus Christ is the same today as He was back in the year 1926... and 1026... and AD 26!!
He is alive!!! And because He is alive, you can live a life of hope, a life of joy....
There are lots of websites I could direct you to to help you to know Him and love Him in a fuller way. But please visit http://happypilgrim.googlepages.com
Do you have questions? Or do you want to throw rocks? That's ok. Please e-mail me if you like at davideames@hotmail.com and I will respond.
Note: If you leave a comment here, I will make sure to read it. But for now, I am deleting all comments after I read them. Please understand that I am not deleting them because of anything you write - whether good, bad, or ugly. Deleting them is just the best way for me right now to manage the site with the volume of comments I am receiving. Feel free to comment and ask questions. If you ask a question, I will do my best to respond.
May the blessings of Jesus Christ, creator of heaven and earth and lover of our souls be yours today!!
David
